Up until now all I have been writing about is stuff that flies. But, when most everything you fly is electric a good charger is needed.
The Hyperion EOS0606i is the 4th lipo compatible charger I’ve purchased since getting involved in electrics and find myself wishing it had been my 1st. Other chargers included a couple of “bargain” chargers in the $30-$50 range and a Common Sense 2-4s charger ($100.00) which was decent but only put out a maximum of 2 amps.
The EOS0606i will do up to a 6s pack at charge rates up to 6 amps. That’s a difference of 1 hour to charge a 6000 ma lipo pack with it compared to 3 hours for the same pack with the Common Sense charger. At a price of $139.95 the Hyperion unit is a much better choice when using packs over 2000 milliamps, and it does Li-ion, NiCad, NiMh and lead acid batteries as well. It can be used with AC or DC power and after using mine for a little over 3 months have no qualms about recommending it to anyone in the market for a good, quality charger.
The 0606i comes with the Hyperion balance adapter which will do Hyperion batteries PolyQuest, PolyQ, Etec, and some other brand packs. There are 3 other adapters available at the time of this writing at a cost of around $6.95 each.
The TP adapter works on Flight Power and later Thunder Power packs. (I use this one quite a bit with the Flight Power packs in my jets)
The JST-XH adapter works on my Dual-sky and Great Planes packs as well as others. (This one gets a lot of use too)
The JST-EH works on some Align, Kokam, Graupner, Robbe, and other brands. I haven’t ran across anything to use this on but bought it at the same time as the charger since I wasn’t sure)
If you’re in need of a more powerful unit, Hyperion makes them with a capacity of up to 12s and 10 amps for not that much more money. I can’t swear to their performance, but if as good as the 0606i has been for me, should work well.
